I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Wisconsin. After living in California, North Carolina and Washington over the past 30 years, I currently call Western Colorado home.
My work is structured upon a multi-media approach to arrive at an image or object. At the base of all my work lies a passion for the materials I utilize. Whether working in pigments, wood, metal, fiber or paper, each piece relies on a synthesis of materials to achieve the successful result I seek.
I draw inspiration from many sources. Among them are the art and craft of folk and tribal cultures. The clarity and earnestness found in this work has appealed to me since childhood. By blending these influences, along with images I collect while traveling, I create a personal iconography. The aim in all my work is to celebrate the process of creating work that gives my soul its voice.
